Developmental Assessment Scales for Indian Infants (DASII)
The Developmental Assessment Scales for Indian Infants (DASII), developed at M.S. University, Baroda, after seven years of research, assesses mental and motor development from birth to 30 months using entirely Indian materials, with norms from Baroda. Motor items follow the child from lying on the back to standing, neck control, moving about, climbing, jumping and handling objects, while mental items cover awareness and exploration of objects, communication, understanding of language, spatial relations, imitation and social interaction. Mental and motor development are scored separately, which helps diagnose delay and judge the effect of intervention; it takes about 40 minutes, and the kit is a large box of test materials such as a ball, cubes, a rattle, beads, a torch, a bell, spoons and a toy car.
