Visual Analog Mood Scales™
Robert A. Stern's Visual Analog Mood Scales (VAMS) measure eight mood states, sad, happy, tense, afraid, angry, confused, tired and energetic, in adults aged 18 to 94. Each scale is a 100 mm vertical line running from a neutral cartoon face to a face showing the mood, so the test makes few demands on language or thinking and suits people with neurological impairments who cannot manage wordier questionnaires. It takes about 10 minutes, and the kit contains the professional manual, 25 response booklets and a metric ruler.
