Trauma Symptom Checklist for Young Children™ (TSCYC™)
The Trauma Symptom Checklist for Young Children (TSCYC), by John Briere, is a 90-item report completed by a caretaker to assess the effects of traumatic experiences, such as abuse or violence, on children aged 3 to 12. The caretaker rates how often each symptom has occurred in the past month on a 4-point scale, and norms are provided separately for boys and girls in three age bands: 3 to 4, 5 to 9 and 10 to 12. Unusually, it includes scales that check the validity of the caretaker's report and takes into account how many waking hours the caretaker spends with the child each week. It takes 15 to 20 minutes, and the kit includes the manual, 25 item booklets, 25 answer sheets and profile forms for each age band.
