The Senior Apperception Technique (S.A.T.)
The Senior Apperception Technique (S.A.T.), by Leopold Bellak, is a projective test designed for older adults, up to age 90, made up of 17 illustrated cards and a straightforward manual. Like the Children's Apperception Test, its thematic pictures stir emotion, memory and ego functioning around the concerns of later life, such as money, relationships and moving into a retirement home. It works one-to-one or in groups and is used mainly by social workers, psychiatrists and nurses, and it takes about 40 minutes.
