Test of Early Mathematics Ability - Third Edition (TEMA-3)
The Test of Early Mathematics Ability, Third Edition (TEMA-3), by Herbert P. Ginsburg and Arthur J. Baroody, measures the mathematics of children aged 3 to 8, and also helps with older children who struggle with the subject. It covers both informal and school-taught skills, among them counting, comparing numbers, reading and writing numerals, number facts, calculation and understanding of concepts. It can be read against norms or used diagnostically to screen for readiness, find the roots of poor performance, pick out gifted pupils, track progress and plan teaching. It has two parallel forms of 72 items each, takes about 40 minutes individually, and the kit contains the manual, picture books, record booklets and worksheets for both forms, assessment probes, cards, 25 blocks and 25 tokens in a mesh bag.
