TECEL: Test of Early Communication and Emerging Language

The Test of Early Communication and Emerging Language (TECEL), by Mary Blake Huer and Lynda Miller, assesses the very first communication behaviours and emerging language of children from 2 weeks to 24 months. A revised and standardised form of Huer's Nonspeech Test, it can also be used with older people who have moderate to severe language delays, and it suits speech-language pathologists, early intervention staff, special educators, psychologists and AAC specialists. It takes 15 to 45 minutes individually, and the kit contains the examiner's manual, picture plates, 25 record booklets, 25 informal assessment and intervention plans and an object kit in a storage box.
