Symbol Digit Modalities Test
Aaron Smith's Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT) is a quick, inexpensive screen for brain dysfunction in children and adults aged 8 and over, sensitive both to brain damage and to changes in thinking over time or with treatment. Using a key, the person has 90 seconds to match numbers to geometric symbols, answering in writing or aloud, so it can be used even with people who have motor or speech difficulties. It takes about 5 minutes, and the kit contains the manual and 25 AutoScore test forms.
