State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory–2™ Child and Adolescent (STAXI–2™ C/A)
The STAXI-2 Child and Adolescent version (STAXI-2 C/A), by Thomas M. Brunner and Charles D. Spielberger, asks young people aged 9 to 18 to rate themselves on 35 items, adapting the adult STAXI-2 for their age. It separates passing states of anger from more lasting anger traits, shows whether a child reacts only to particular provocations or to many events, and identifies whether their usual way of coping with anger is to express it outwardly or hold it in. This helps in assessing conditions in which anger plays a part, such as oppositional defiant disorder, intermittent explosive disorder or post-traumatic stress, in monitoring the long-term effects of anger and in threat assessment. It takes about 10 minutes, and the kit includes the manual, 25 rating booklets and 25 profile forms.
