The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales for Early Childhood, Fifth Edition (Early SB5), by Gale H. Roid, is a cheaper form of the SB5 made for children from 2 years to 7 years 3 months. It covers five factors of cognitive ability with child-friendly toys, includes a nonverbal section for children with limited English, hearing loss, autism or other difficulties in expressing themselves, and has easier starting items for children who function at a low level. A test observation checklist and a parent report are included, and the full battery takes 30 to 50 minutes. The kit contains the examiner's manual, item books 1 and 2, 25 record forms and the manipulatives.
