Standard Self-Directed Search(SDS)
The StandardSDS uses John Holland's RIASEC theory to help people explore careers: the theory sorts people into six types, from realistic and investigative to enterprising and conventional, and holds that people are most satisfied in work that suits their type. Questions on what the person hopes for, likes doing, is good at and would enjoy as an occupation produce a three-letter Summary Code, which is then used to find matching courses and careers. It is a redesign of the SDS Form R, 5th Edition, sharing its data, and it takes 25 to 35 minutes for ages 11 to 70. The kit includes the professional manual, 25 each of the assessment booklets, Occupations Finders and workbooks, and an Educational Opportunities Finder.
