Social-Emotional Developmental Age Level (SEDAL)
The Social-Emotional Developmental Age Level (SEDAL), by Joop Hoekman, Aly Miedema, Bernard Otten and Jan Gielen, charts the social and emotional progress of children and adults whose developmental age lies between 0 and 14 years. Its 152 items, split evenly between social development, such as independence, making contact and relating to authority, and emotional development, such as impulse control, self-image, fears and moral growth, give a developmental age for each domain and an overall score. It suits children with intellectual, behavioural, sensory or motor difficulties, typically developing children, and adults with intellectual disability or delayed development, and because it looks at the past three months it can track growth over time. It takes 30 to 60 minutes individually, and the kit contains the manual, 25 scoring booklets and a scoring program.
