The Reynolds Intellectual Assessment Scales, Second Edition (RIAS-2), by Cecil R. Reynolds and Randy W. Kamphaus, measure verbal and nonverbal intelligence from age 3 to 94. Verbal intelligence is judged through problem solving and reasoning that draw on what a person has learned, and nonverbal intelligence through reasoning and spatial tasks with unfamiliar material; optional memory subtests add a Composite Memory Index. It can stand alone or form part of a wider battery for diagnosing intellectual or learning disabilities and for decisions on classification, selection and school placement. It takes 40 to 45 minutes, and this introductory kit includes the professional manual with fast guide, 25 record forms, 25 response forms and stimulus books 1 to 4.
