The Quick Cognitive Screener (QCOGS), by Dr. Sudipta Roy and Hiya Sharma, screens adults aged 60 and over for cognitive impairment through practical tasks that need no words. Through 4 tasks it looks at executive functions such as planning, organisation, flexible thinking and problem solving, as well as episodic memory, recognition and processing speed. Because it relies little on language or writing, it suits people with low literacy, motor impairment or speech difficulties, and it can be completed in 8 to 10 minutes in clinics, hospitals or the community. The kit includes a manual, 25 consumable booklets, stimulus cards, activity plates and a stopwatch.
