Primary Test of Nonverbal Intelligence (PTONI)
The Primary Test of Nonverbal Intelligence (PTONI) by David J. Ehrler and Ronnie L. McGhee assesses reasoning in young children aged 3 to 9, helping professionals spot both serious intellectual delays and high ability. The child simply points to answers after brief spoken directions, so the test suits children whose speech or motor skills are still limited, and directions are provided in eight other languages for children from different language backgrounds. It was normed on 1,010 children from 38 US states and takes 5 to 15 minutes; the kit contains the examiner's manual, an easel picture book and 25 record forms.
