Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale, 3rd Edition (PHCSCS-3)
The Piers-Harris 3 is a quick measure of how children, adolescents and young adults aged 6 to 22 see themselves, based on their own view rather than a parent's or teacher's, and it flags those who need further assessment or help. Its 58 items cover six domains: social acceptance, physical appearance, intellectual and school status, happiness and satisfaction, freedom from anxiety, and behavioural adjustment. This edition adds items on body image, bullying and social isolation, easier wording and new national norms, with validity studies in six clinical groups including ADHD, autism, depression and eating disorders. It takes 10 to 15 minutes, and the kit includes the manual and 25 AutoScore forms.
