The Phonological Assessment Battery, Second Edition Primary (PhAB 2), by Simon Gibbs and Sue Bodman, assesses phonological awareness in children aged 5 to 11, giving educational psychologists, SENCOs and specialist teachers a way to find the phonological difficulties that can hold back learning to read, so that the right support can follow. This newly standardised edition adds four subtests based on recent research and offers separate testing ranges for ages 5 to 6 and 7 to 11, for a more sensitive picture of each child's strengths and weaknesses. It takes about 20 minutes, and the kit includes the user's guide, a picture book and 10 record forms.
