The Music Preference Scale (MPS), by Dr. Durgesh K. Upadhyay, Dr. Ridhima Shukla and Aheli Chakraborty, maps the kinds of music young Indian adults aged 18 to 24 prefer, reflecting how closely music is bound up with culture, religion and emotion in India. Preferences fall along five dimensions: contemporary and rhythmic, reflective and spiritual, emotional and melodious, devotional and cultural, and intense and electronic. It takes about 20 minutes, individually or in groups, and the kit contains a manual and 100 consumable booklets.
