Multidimensional Scale for Children with Sexual Abuse (MSCSA)
The Multidimensional Scale for Children with Sexual Abuse (MSCSA), by Dr. Vandana Choudhary, Dr. Sujata Satapathy and Dr. Rajesh Sagar, is a self-rated scale that shows the nature and extent of the psychological impact of sexual abuse on children aged 7 to 13. Its 62 items cover 5 domains: psychopathology, social and emotional difficulties, outward behaviour problems, sexualised behaviour with pain symptoms, and school functioning, and the total score shows whether the impact is mild, moderate or severe. It was developed through research with 457 participants, and the authors describe it as the first scale of its kind for young children in Asia. It is given individually in 15 to 20 minutes, comes in Hindi and English editions, and the kit contains a manual and 100 booklets.
