The Mini-ICF-APP Social Functioning Scale, by Michael Linden, Stefanie Baron, Beate Muschalla and Andrew Molodynski, gives a quick, reliable way to rate limitations in capacity among adults with any kind of mental disorder, whatever the degree of disability. It turns the WHO's ICF framework for classifying functioning and disability, which is hard to use in everyday clinical work, into a practical scale, and it rates each person against anchor points instead of norms. It takes 10 to 15 minutes, and the kit contains a brief manual with case studies and the UK validation findings, a fuller reference manual and 50 scoring forms.
