This book by Valerie Van Hutton sets out an objective, quantitative scoring system for the House-Tree-Person and Draw-A-Person techniques, that clinicians, teachers and other professionals can apply to drawings by children aged 7 to 11. The child makes two drawings, and each is checked for specific features, which count towards four headings: preoccupation with sexual matters, aggression and hostility, withdrawal and guardedness, and wariness, suspicion and lack of trust. The system has been tested empirically as a screen for possible child sexual abuse, and real children's drawings and case examples illustrate the scoring. The set includes the hardcover book and 25 scoring booklets.
