Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS)
The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) by Phillip Snaith and Anthony S. Zigmond measures anxiety and depression in adults, in hospital as well as in the community. A short, easy questionnaire shows whether each condition is present and how severe it is, with a separate score for each, and cut-off points place a person in the normal range or in the mild, moderate or severe band. The manual also includes two scales that estimate irritable mood and help pinpoint particular anxieties. It is given individually, and the kit contains the manual and 100 record forms.
