Goal-Oriented Assessment of Lifeskills™ (GOAL™)

The Goal-Oriented Assessment of Lifeskills (GOAL), by Lucy Jane Miller and Thomas Oakland, evaluates the functional motor abilities that children aged 7 to 17 need for everyday living. Its seven activities are enjoyable tasks drawn from real daily life, covering both fine and gross motor skills, and each is linked to intervention targets so that results turn directly into a goal-based treatment plan. It helps decide who qualifies for special services and plan therapy, whether occupational or physical, as well as adapted physical education, and occupational therapists are its main users, though psychologists, physical therapists and other specialists use it too. It takes 45 to 60 minutes, and the kit includes the test materials, a stimulus easel, 25 record forms, a pad of 25 paper box sheets and the manual.
