GARS-3: Gilliam Autism Rating Scale–Third Edition
The Gilliam Autism Rating Scale–Third Edition (GARS-3) helps teachers, parents and clinicians identify autism in people aged 3 to 22 and estimate how severe it is. Its 56 items, based on the DSM-5 criteria for autism spectrum disorder, describe typical behaviours and fall into six subscales, covering restrictive or repetitive behaviour, social interaction, social communication, cognitive style, emotional responses and maladaptive speech. Results are reported as standard scores, percentile ranks, a severity level and the probability of autism, and a rating takes only 5 to 10 minutes. The kit includes the manual, 50 summary/response forms and a manual of instructional objectives.
