Early Functional Communication Profile (EFCP)
The Early Functional Communication Profile (EFCP), by Sharlet Lee Jensen, is a criterion-referenced tool for preverbal children aged 2 to 10 whose communication is developing atypically. It picks up small functional changes in nonverbal communication in children with severe disabilities as well as bigger gains in those with moderate disabilities, which helps set a starting point for therapy and show progress. It suits children with suspected or diagnosed autism, severe or profound cognitive impairment or coexisting disorders, and those who use augmentative and alternative communication. It takes 30 to 45 minutes, and the kit includes the manual and 15 profile forms.
