The Early Childhood Behavior Scale (ECBS), by Stephen B. McCarney, helps identify behaviour disorders in children aged 3 to 6. Drawing on the accepted definitions of emotional disturbance and behavioural disorder, it gives a standardised profile and the specific signs needed to decide which children need intervention and support to learn more suitable behaviour. It provides the documentation to start a screening, intervention and teaching programme early, and a rating takes about 15 minutes. The kit includes the school technical manual, 25 rating forms, 25 pre-referral checklists and an intervention manual.
