Dyslexia Early Screening Test Second Edition (DEST-2)
The Dyslexia Early Screening Test, Second Edition (DEST-2), by Rod Nicolson and Angela Fawcett, screens young children aged 4½ to 6½ for early signs of dyslexia through 12 short subtests of attainment and ability, among them rapid naming, rhyme, letter and digit naming, sound order, phonological discrimination, bead threading, balance, shape copying and memory tasks. It profiles the child's strengths and weaknesses, helps plan support and can form part of the child's developmental record. It is given individually in about 30 minutes, and the kit contains the examiner's manual, the subtest cards and score keys, a blindfold, beads and cord, a balance tester, the Corsi frog and scoring software on a memory stick.
