Draw-A-Person Screening Procedure for Emotional Disturbance (DAP:SPED)

The DAP:SPED is a screening procedure that uses a child's drawings of a man, a woman and themselves to spot children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 who may have emotional problems and need fuller evaluation. Its scoring items come from a thorough review of research on human figure drawings and are quick to apply, and the norms are based on 2,260 students broadly representative of the population. The resulting T score indicates whether no further assessment is needed, whether it is advisable, or whether it is strongly advisable. It takes about 20 minutes, can be given individually or in groups, and the kit includes the manual, 10 scoring templates and 25 record forms.
