Digit Vigilance Test (DVT)
Ronald F. Lewis's Digit Vigilance Test (DVT) measures sustained alertness as a person scans rows of digits quickly and marks the target numbers accurately, for adults aged 20 to 80. It picks up small changes in neuropsychological status while being little affected by repeated testing, and it makes few demands on other aspects of attention. Staff without formal training can give and score it under a psychologist's supervision, but interpretation needs training in clinical psychology or neuropsychology; it takes 10 minutes, and the kit contains the user's guide, 50 test booklets and a set of 4 scoring keys.
