The Dementia Rating Scale, Second Edition (DRS-2), with its professional manual by Paul J. Jurica, Christopher L. Leitten and Steven Mattis, measures cognitive functioning in adults aged 55 to 89, including people at low levels of ability where many other tests cannot go low enough. It covers a wide range of higher cortical functions, separates deficits by severity and can follow how a person's cognition changes from one testing to the next, and it was revised because age and education were found to affect scores. It is given individually in 15 to 30 minutes, and the kit contains the professional manual, 50 scoring booklets, 50 profile forms and a set of stimulus cards.
