College Adjustment Scale (CAS)
The College Adjustment Scale (CAS), by William D. Anton and James R. Reed, screens college students aged 17 to 30 for the difficulties they most often bring to counselling. Its 108 items, rated on a four-point scale, cover nine areas: academic, career, family and interpersonal problems, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, substance abuse and suicidal thoughts. It is meant mainly for college counselling and guidance centres but fits any clinical service for students, takes 15 to 20 minutes, and scores in 3 to 5 minutes on a self-scoring answer sheet. The kit includes the manual, 25 reusable item booklets and 25 answer sheets.
