Cognitive Distortion Scales (CDS)
The Cognitive Distortion Scales (CDS), by John Briere, is a 40-item self-report measure of distorted thinking in adults aged 18 and over. It covers five kinds of cognitive distortion: running oneself down, blaming oneself even for things beyond one's control, feeling unable to control important parts of one's life, expecting the future to be bleak, and seeing the world, especially other people, as dangerous. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete and 5 to score, and the kit includes the manual, 25 test booklets and 25 profile forms.
