CAAP-2: Clinical Assessment of Articulation and Phonology–Second Edition
The Clinical Assessment of Articulation and Phonology–Second Edition (CAAP-2), by Wayne Secord and JoAnn S. Donohue, is a quick, accurate assessment of speech sound skills in children aged 2½ to 11. Its Articulation Inventory takes 15 to 20 minutes and tests consonants in different word positions, clusters with S, R and L, longer words and, from age 5, sounds in sentences, while checklists for phonological processes such as stopping, fronting, gliding and cluster reduction remove the need for phonetic transcription. Word, sentence and phonology standard scores, based on 1,486 children, help decide who qualifies for therapy. The kit includes the manual, a stimulus easel, 50 articulation response forms, 30 phonological process record forms, 5 foam CAAP Pals and a tote bag.
