The Bruininks Motor Ability Test (BMAT), by Brett D. Bruininks and Robert H. Bruininks, is a standardised, individually given test of fine and gross motor skills in adults aged 40 and over, adapted from the BOT-2 used with children and young people. It helps occupational and physical therapists, nurses and rehabilitation staff decide whether motor problems must be tackled before a person can live independently, set treatment goals and track progress through repeated testing. Its subtests cover strength and flexibility, balance and mobility, coordination, manual dexterity and fine motor integration; the short form takes 15 to 20 minutes and the full battery 60 to 75, and the kit contains the manual, an administration easel, record forms, examinee booklets and the testing materials.
