Behavioural Checklist for Screening the Learning Disabled (BCSLD)
The Behavioural Checklist for Screening the Learning Disabled (BCSLD), by Smriti Swarup and Dharmishta H. Mehta, is a teacher-completed screening checklist for learning disability in children aged 6 to 13. Its 30 positively and negatively worded items span eight areas, each tied to a weakness in a particular ability, and help explain why a child may be under-achieving. As a screener it points to children who should go on to fuller diagnostic assessment, and it takes 10 to 15 minutes. It was standardised on 1,000 children aged 8 to 11, with 300 teachers, and the kit has a manual and 100 consumable booklets.
