Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation (BSS)
The Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation (BSS) by Aaron T. Beck helps clinicians assess suicide risk in people aged 17 and over by rating the attitudes and behaviours they routinely consider, and it flags features that need closer clinical attention. Five screening items keep the scale short and less intrusive for people who are not suicidal, while the full scale has 21 items, and it can be used with the BDI-II and the Beck Hopelessness Scale for a fuller evaluation. It takes 5 to 10 minutes, and the kit contains the manual and 25 record forms.
